Talking Cars 379: Driving the Ford F-150 Lightning

Plus, when to use ultra-high-performance tires

Main theme: While the electric vehicle revolution has been accelerating at a rapid pace, the first EV pickups are just hitting the market. Enter the Ford F-150 Lightning, Ford’s most recent addition to its super-popular F-150 lineup and one of the first all-electric pickups. This week we give our first impressions of the Lightning and make direct comparisons with how this truck has been designed and implemented vs. other new EV pickups, like the Rivian R1T, as well as with gas- and diesel powered-pickups. Will the Lightning appeal to pickup drivers in general or to buyers looking for a bit more utility from their EV choice?

Audience question: Can you use ultra-high-performance summer tires year-round?
