The comfortable Pacifica plug-in hybrid comes only in a seven-passenger configuration. It also lacks the handy fold-into-the-floor second-row seats because the hybrid battery takes up this space.

Once past the 30-mile all-electric range, the Pacifica gets 27 mpg overall when operating as a regular hybrid. It takes about 2 hours to charge the battery on a 240-volt connector and 12 hours on a regular 120-volt outlet. Also note that unlike the regular Pacifica, the hybrid isn't available with all-wheel drive. Otherwise, the hybrid drives nicely, with smooth and prompt acceleration. Handling is responsive, the ride is comfortable, and the cabin is quiet. The Uconnect infotainment system is user-friendly. AEB with pedestrian detection, AEB highway, BSW, and RCTW are standard.

The Pacifica minivan is offered in seven- and eight-passenger configurations, and it is distinguished by handy fold-into-the-floor second-row seats except. Unfortunately, this feature is unavailable in the plug-in hybrid version.

The good news is that the plug-in hybrid has an electric range of about 30 miles. Once past those initial electric miles, it gets 27 mpg when operating as a regular hybrid. The regular model gets a 3.6-liter V6 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic, which provides plenty of power and gets a decent 21 mpg overall. All-wheel drive is available except in the plug-in hybrid version. Handling is responsive, the ride is comfortable, and the cabin is quiet. The Pacifica uses the Uconnect infotainment system--one of the best available. Advanced safety features such as FCW, AEB with pedestrian detection, BSW, and RCTW are optional. They became standard from 2021.
